Levels change what's available to you

Most crafting recipes require a minimum skill level, and that acts as a natural filter on competition. A recipe that needs a high level has a smaller pool of players who can even attempt it, which often means less crowding and more stable margins than a recipe anyone can do from level one. If you've invested in a skill, the recipes gated behind that level are worth checking specifically for this reason โ€” you're not competing with the entire player base for that margin.

A recipe that looked profitable using a price snapshot from ten minutes ago can be a loss by the time you've bought everything. Materials move independently of the finished product โ€” check all of them fresh, right before you commit, not from memory.

Byproducts are part of the calculation too

Some recipes leave you with leftover materials or produce a secondary item alongside the main one. Before starting any crafting session, jot down (mentally or literally) the exact total cost per unit you calculated and the price you're expecting to sell at. If the actual numbers drift meaningfully from that plan partway through โ€” because materials got more expensive or the finished item's price softened โ€” that's your cue to stop and recheck, rather than finishing the run on autopilot assuming the original math still holds.
